Curious Varvara

What it’s about

Ten-year-old Varvara Smorodina arrives for the summer at her grandparents' home in the village of Verkhovoy. She is exceptionally bright and well-read, with a passion for criminology inherited from her grandfather. The village seems peaceful, but soon mysterious crimes and strange incidents surface. Together with her new friend Vasya, a simple-hearted local boy, Varvara begins investigating. Their first case involves a scarecrow that appears to come alive at night, frightening the village children.

The series won the Pilot festival award for best series pilot, chosen by the jury. Polina Ainutdinova plays Varvara, with Sergey Fedorov as Vasya. It comes from director Yury Korobeynikov and writer Maria Kabanova, among others.
