10 facts
  1. In the 6th episode of the first season, David Harbour's character lists various organizations that could be watching him. He also mentions Al-Qaeda. But this group was only formed in 1988, while the events in the series take place in 1983.

  2. The Beretta 92FS pistol carried by a military policeman in the fifth episode was only adopted by the US Army in 1985, while the series takes place in the early 1980s. Also, government agents and military police are armed with the HK MP5 submachine gun in the MP5K-PDW variant, which was only developed in 1991.

  3. Some of the cars used in the series were produced after 1983. For example, Jim Hopper's jeep is a 1985 Chevrolet Blazer, and the Hawkins police car is a 1984 Dodge Diplomat.

  4. Originally, the Duffer Brothers wanted to make a remake of Stephen King's «It», but later changed their minds. When they decided to create «Stranger Things», the series retained a great many references to the writer's works.

  5. The official poster for the series was created by Kyle Lambert. It was done in a style reminiscent of the work of the famous artist Drew Struzan, who designed the official posters for the films "Star Wars: Episode 4 – A New Hope" (1977), "Indiana Jones," "Back to the Future" (1985), "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" (1982), and many others.

  6. In an interview on NPR, the Duffer Brothers praised Millie Bobby Brown as an extremely gifted actress and said that she is able to adapt her performance for different lens or camera positions, which most child actors cannot do. But they also said that there were times on set when they still remembered that the actress was just a little girl. For example, one day she showed up on set covered head to toe in glitter, to which she simply replied: "I have no idea where they came from." It took about 45 minutes to wash off that glitter.

  7. According to a message from the art department, Sheriff Hopper's trailer cost only 1 dollar.

  8. Gaten Matarazzo's voice changed so much by the end of filming that the sound team could not use it for additional dialogue recording.

  9. The vehicles of the Hawkins Police Department and the uniforms are identical to those used in "Jaws" and "Jaws 2." This applies to the color of the police chief's uniform, played there by Roy Scheider, the triangular chevron, as well as the beige SUV he drove. The police officers in the series also wear blue uniforms and hats, like their counterparts in the films of the "Jaws" franchise.

  10. The twin actresses who played Holly Wheeler are the same girls who played Judith in "The Walking Dead" (2010).
