About the series
A love story in reverse
What it’s about
Ted Mosby's best friend Marshall decides to propose to his longtime girlfriend Lily, a kindergarten teacher. This pushes Ted to realize he needs to try harder if he hopes to find true love. His friend Barney, a committed bachelor with strong opinions and a love of suits, offers questionable advice. When Ted meets Robin, he believes it is love at first sight, but fate has other plans.
What hooks you
Created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the series features a theme song performed by their band The Solids. It earned multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, including for Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson. The Bro Code, a recurring joke, was published as a real book by Simon & Schuster in 2008. The characters' favorite bar, MacLaren's, is based on a real New York bar called McGee's.
Who it’s for
It is worth a look for anyone who enjoys sitcoms about friendship and the search for love, with a blend of heartfelt moments and sharp comedy. It will appeal to those who like romantic comedies that unfold over many episodes, with running gags and a group of characters who feel like old friends.

Trivia
All facts 9
- The opening song titled "Hey Beautiful" is performed by the band "The Solids," which was founded by the series creators Thomas Craig and Carter Bays.
- The Bro Code, which Barney mentions so often throughout the series, was published by Simon & Schuster in 2008.
- The prototype for MacLaren's, the main characters' favorite bar, is a real bar in New York called McGee's. In the series, the bar is named after Carter Bays's assistant, Carl MacLaren, and the bartender in the series is also named Carl.
- In Marshall and Ted's apartment, as in the famous film Pulp Fiction, the clock always shows 4:20.
- The TV host named Sandy (Alexis Denisof), who worked with Robin, is the real-life husband of the actress who plays Lily.
- At the beginning of the series, no one knows where Barney works or what he does. This is a reference to the series «Friends» (1994-2004), where no one knew what Chandler did for a living.
