About the series

They did the one thing the Nazis never expected. They fought back.

What it’s about

Young Ishmael signs on to the whaling ship Pequod, seeking adventure at sea. The vessel is commanded by Captain Ahab, a one-legged man driven by a single purpose: to find and kill the white whale Moby Dick, which took his leg years before. As the ship sails into remote waters, the crew becomes entangled in Ahab's relentless quest, and Ishmael witnesses how a personal vendetta can consume a man and endanger everyone around him.

What hooks you

Patrick Stewart plays Captain Ahab in this adaptation of the classic novel, with Henry Thomas as Ishmael. The production earned Stewart a Golden Globe for his performance. The cast also includes Hugh Keays-Byrne as Mr. Stubb and Hank Azaria in a supporting role.

Who it’s for

It is a good pick for those who like sea adventures with a dark psychological edge, and for viewers drawn to stories where obsession leads to destruction. It will also suit those who appreciate literary adaptations with strong central performances.
