In the 1960s, a Soviet cosmonaut becomes the first person to walk on the Moon. Around Star City, the people behind the mission—cosmonauts, engineers and intelligence officers—push themselves to the limit to keep the USSR ahead in the space race.

Rhys Ifans plays the Chief Designer, with Anna Maxwell Martin as Lyudmilla and Agnes O'Casey as Irina. The series comes from the same alternate-history universe as "For All Mankind", but shows the race from behind the Iron Curtain.
