  1. According to Evan Peters, writer Ryan Murphy insisted only that the story not be shown from the point of view of Jeffrey Dahmer (1960-1994), so that viewers would not inadvertently develop sympathy for him.
  2. In reality, Glenda Cleveland (played by Niecy Nash) lived in the neighboring house, not next door. Next door lived a certain Pamela Bass.
  3. One of the police officers who again handed 14-year-old Konerak Sinthasomphone (1976-1991) over to Jeffrey Dahmer, for which they were temporarily suspended from duty, later, in 2005, advanced along the union line.
  4. Eric's line, delivered by Cooper Koch, "I am the Hurt Man," is taken word for word from an interview with attorney Leslie Abramson recorded before the court hearing. Hence the focus the series places on this line.
