In real life, Lauren Graham is 14 years older than her on-screen daughter Alexis Bledel.

Unlike her character Rory, actress Alexis Bledel cannot stand coffee. When the show depicts her drinking coffee, she is actually sipping Coca-Cola.

Initially, Scott Patterson was supposed to appear only in the pilot episode, but he and Lauren Graham worked so well together that he signed on for 3 more episodes and then stayed on the show on a permanent basis.

Lisa Weil initially auditioned for the role of Rory but did not get it. The producers, however, liked her so much that they cast her as Paris.
