Three friends wake up in a wrecked Las Vegas hotel suite after a night of heavy partying. They cannot remember anything, and the groom, Doug, is nowhere to be found. In the room they discover a baby in the closet and a tiger in the bathroom. They must retrace their steps to piece together the events and find Doug before the wedding.

- The original title of the film translates as «The Hangover».
- When the whole company drives to Vegas in a convertible, Alan Garner (Zach Galifianakis) stands up and shouts "Road trip!". Todd Phillips was the director of the film of the same name (2000).
- Three pairs of twins and a dummy were used as the baby.
- Plans for a sequel were announced by the studio even before the film was released in theaters.
- During filming in Las Vegas, one of the Mercedes cars, very battered and standing out from the others, was stolen from the parking lot where the cars were parked. The next day, one of the road scenes was being filmed on the city streets, and traffic was blocked by the local police. One of the crew members noticed a very similar car in the resulting traffic jam and informed the police; the driver was detained and arrested, and the stolen car was returned.
- Director Todd Phillips gave up his usual fee in exchange for a share of the film's rights. The decision turned out to be incredibly successful and brought him a huge sum as a share of the profits.
