Alexandra "Sasha" Barrese is the daughter of actress and model Katherine Barrese. Katherine was a month shy of 16 when she gave birth to Sasha. They lived in Maui, Hawaii, and soon moved to Paris, France. There, Katherine continued to work as a model and took Sasha with her to work. Sasha gained a lot of early modeling experience by attending photo shoots with her mother. In 1989, they made their acting debuts in the film Homer and Eddie (1989). Katherine and young Sasha then played the younger and older versions of a character named "Jezebel" in the film Jezebel's Kiss (1990). That film was the only role in which Sasha was credited under her real name — Alexandra Barrese. Katherine worked hard to give her girl a good private education.

As a teenager, Sasha attended the private Ojai School in the Ojai Valley, California, and graduated from high school in 1995. She continued her education at Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts, and graduated from high school in 1999. During her school years, she did some modeling for the agencies NEXT, Elite, and Guess? Jeans. After graduation, she continued to appear in television and film work, including Supernatural (2005), Hellraiser: Hellseeker (2000) (V), The Ring (2002), Just Shoot Me!
