An extraterrestrial force has occupied Chicago for nearly a decade. Surveillance is constant, civil rights are restricted, and an authoritarian system has emerged. In a working-class neighborhood, some residents collaborate with the occupiers while others join an underground resistance.

- The countdown heard at the beginning and end of the film is a recording of the authentic countdown before the launch of the crewed Apollo 11 spacecraft in 1969.
- In one of the early shots showing the Chicago skyline, a roof of a hotel was added that is actually located not in Chicago, but in the capital of North Korea, Pyongyang. Construction began in 1987, but it has still not been completed. The hotel is included in the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest building in the world that has never been put into operation.
- Toward the end of filming, Machine Gun Kelly suffered a chest injury. It is believed to have happened due to repeated blows to the chest from the actor who played the role of a police officer.
- The original title of the film can be translated as «Captive».
