About the film
What it’s about
Timofey Suvernev arrives in Moscow from a distant island to study. He passes his entrance exams and throws himself into student life. Through hard work, he achieves success: a paper he co-writes with classmate Galtsov wins a gold medal in a competition. Then an error is discovered in the work. Galtsov begs Tim to hide the fact, but Tim refuses. He returns home with his wife. On the shore, an old fisherman's shack bears a sign: "1 Newton Street." Tim now guards the sea against poachers while continuing to work on the competition theme in his spare time.

Directed by Teodor Vulfovich from a screenplay he co-wrote with Edvard Radzinsky. Yurii Illienko plays Timofey Suvernev, with Larysa Kadochnykova as his wife Larisa. The cast also includes Yevgeni Fridman as Galtsov.
