Stories from the set

Linda Fiorentino's performance earned the highest praise from film critics, but she was not nominated for an Oscar because the film aired on television before its theatrical premiere.

Linda Fiorentino was offered a body double for the love scenes, but she chose to perform in them herself.

The film was initially going to be titled "Buffalo Girls," but the title was changed to avoid confusion with Larry McMurtry's 1990 book of the same name and the 1995 miniseries based on it.
