About the film
Most people have a dark side. She had nothing else.
What it’s about
Bridget Gregory wants everything right away, no matter the cost. She takes a million dollars from her husband's creditors and hides out in a small town near New York. There she meets Mike Swale and starts a passionate affair. Mike has never met anyone like Bridget: she says nothing about her past and promises nothing for the future. She brings him into a scheme to make fast money, while her angry husband tries to recover the cash by any means.
What hooks you
Linda Fiorentino's performance as Bridget earned high praise from critics, though an Oscar nomination was ruled out because the film aired on television before its theatrical release. Fiorentino was offered a body double for the love scenes but chose to play them herself. The film was originally to be titled "Buffalo Girls" before being renamed to avoid confusion with Larry McMurtry's book and its miniseries adaptation.
Who it’s for
It is worth a look for anyone who likes sleek, cynical crime stories where a clever schemer stays one step ahead, and for those drawn to erotic thrillers with a hard-edged, manipulative woman at the centre.
