10 facts
  1. The film is based on Stephenie Meyer's novel Eclipse (2007) from the Twilight series.

  2. Eclipse is the fifth film in which Bryce Dallas Howard replaces another actress. In The Village, Bryce replaced Kirsten Dunst; in Dogville, Nicole Kidman; in The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond, Lindsay Lohan; in Terminator Salvation, Charlotte Gainsbourg; and in the third part of Twilight, Rachelle Lefevre.

  3. Chris Weitz, the director of the second part, was physically unable to shoot Eclipse because he was busy with post-production on New Moon. The director ultimately became David Slade, the director of Hard Candy and 30 Days of Night.

  4. The replacement of Rachelle Lefevre caused outrage among many fans of the saga: they believed that Summit Entertainment cast the better-known Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria in the third part purely for commercial reasons. The official version is this — Rachelle Lefevre signed on to film According to Barney, although work on Eclipse had been scheduled for that time.

  5. Tom Felton and Channing Tatum were considered for the role of Riley.

  6. In Eclipse, Kristen Stewart wears a wig because she had previously filmed The Runaways, for which she cut and dyed her hair.

  7. Rumored that the director's post for "Eclipse" was offered to Drew Barrymore.

  8. According to unofficial reports, Vanessa Hudgens and K'Orianka Kilcher auditioned for the role of Leah Clearwater, while Tyler Posey and Jean-Luc Bilodeau could have played Seth.

  9. Stephenie Meyer named the young werewolf appearing in the third part of the Saga after her son — Seth.

  10. Miranda Kerr was considered for the role of Leah Clearwater.
