"Nemesis" is the name of the third installment of the cult video game that inspired the work on this film. That was originally the title of the second part of "Resident Evil." A little later, the title was changed to the current one — "Resident Evil 2: Apocalypse," because in 2002 the film "Star Trek: Nemesis" was released.

According to Paul Anderson (screenwriter and producer), the name of Dr. Isaacs (Iain Glen) is a tribute to actor Jason Isaacs, whose voice-over we can hear at the very beginning of the first film.
