What it’s about
Mary Morstan, a young governess, has received a rare pearl every year from an unknown benefactor. The gifts arrive on the anniversary of her father's disappearance ten years earlier. Now the mysterious sender requests a meeting, and a frightened Mary turns to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson for help. The encounter raises new questions for Holmes and deepens Mary's fears. Hidden treasure, greed, revenge and sudden death are tangled in the case, which Holmes approaches with his deductive method and competitive spirit.
