About the film

What it’s about

In a remote Yuruk village, fifteen-year-old Ahmet chafes against his father’s expectations and a conservative community. He finds refuge in music, but his feelings for Aya are complicated by her arranged marriage. Ahmet must choose between the path laid out for him and risking everything for love and music.

What hooks you

Georgi M. Unkovski’s debut feature won the Audience Award in the World Cinema Dramatic category at Sundance 2025. Arif Jakup plays Ahmet, with Agush Agushev as Naim and Dora Akan Zlatanova as Aya. The film blends drama and comedy, and Unkovski also wrote the screenplay.

Who it’s for

It suits viewers who like coming-of-age stories with cultural tension, deadpan humor, and a music-driven heartbeat. It will appeal to those who enjoy tales of youthful rebellion against rigid traditions and the ache of first love.
