About the film
His revolution was televised.
What it’s about
In 1977, former real estate developer Tony Kiritsis enters the office of Richard Hall, president of Meridian Mortgage, and takes him hostage with a sawed-off shotgun. He rigs a dead man's switch so that releasing the trigger fires the gun, then demands five million dollars, dropped charges, and a personal apology for being cheated out of money owed to him.
What hooks you
Gus Van Sant directs Bill Skarsgård as Tony Kiritsis and Dacre Montgomery as Richard Hall. The project originally had Nicolas Cage attached to star and Werner Herzog to direct, but after Cage's schedule forced a delay, Herzog lost interest and the roles were recast with Skarsgård and Van Sant.
Who it’s for
It will appeal to those who enjoy tense standoffs based on real events, with a blend of crime drama and dark comedy. It will also suit viewers interested in 1970s American history and courtroom confrontations.

Trivia
- It was originally intended that Nicolas Cage would play the role of Tony Critsis, Werner Herzog would direct the film, and filming would begin in August 2024. The start of filming had to be postponed to early 2025, when the actor had a commitment to another project, and Herzog lost interest in the film upon learning that Cage would not be in it, so Tony was played by Bill Skarsgård and Gus Van Sant became the director.
