About the film
When Andy met Edie, life imitated art.
What it’s about
In mid-1960s New York, Edie Sedgwick, a wealthy young woman, meets artist Andy Warhol and joins his Factory, becoming his muse. She seems to have everything, but she craves love from Andy that he will not give. Her affair with a charismatic musician complicates her place in Warhol's circle.
What hooks you
Sienna Miller plays Edie Sedgwick, with Guy Pearce as Andy Warhol and Hayden Christensen as the musician. The film is based on Edie Sedgwick's biography. Katie Holmes was the main contender for the role of Edie. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, as well as Lindsay Lohan, could have appeared but dropped out. Christensen's character was originally Bob Dylan, but the name was changed to Billy Quinn due to disagreements with Dylan; in the credits he is listed only as Musician. A scene where Edie tells the musician about her brothers' deaths was improvised by Miller based on her knowledge of Sedgwick's life.
Who it’s for
It will appeal to those who enjoy dramas about artistic circles and the price of fame, and to viewers interested in the 1960s counterculture and real-life figures.
