About the film
An Inharmonious Comedy
What it’s about
Evgeniy Troshkin runs a kindergarten, but his uncanny resemblance to a thief known as Docent pulls him into a police operation. Docent has stolen a priceless helmet of Alexander the Great, and the militia needs Troshkin to take his place inside the gang to locate the artifact. The gentle teacher must pass himself off as a hardened criminal, knowing that discovery would put his life at risk.
What hooks you
Evgeni Leonov plays Troshkin, the kind-hearted educator forced into a dangerous masquerade. Georgiy Vitsin, Radner Muratov, and Savely Kramarov appear as the gang members he must befriend. The film ranks twelfth among Soviet films by attendance, and a monument to its characters stands in Taraz, Kazakhstan.
Who it’s for
It will appeal to those who enjoy character-driven comedy with a crime-caper edge, and to anyone drawn to classic Soviet cinema with warmth and wit.

Trivia
All facts 10
- The assistant professor takes the best spot in the prison cell (by the window). It then turns out that the best spot belongs to Vasily Alibabayevich, who does not look like a prison authority.
- When the fugitives are being poured into a barrel, there is only one vehicle, but when the vehicle is shown on the road, the tanker is already a different one.
- The boot print is already present on the "Docent's" trousers before Nikola Pitersky kicks him.
- The cloakroom attendant arranges to meet Troshkin at the Bolshoi Theatre at 5 p.m. But the failed meeting takes place on New Year's Eve, and at that time, at 5 p.m. at the latitude of Moscow, it is already dark.
- The characters get into a taxi. The car has windshield wipers. When the characters get out of the car, the wipers are gone.
- Vidov gives Leonov the address where they will live: «Konny Lane, house No. 8». This is in the area of the «Shabolovskaya» metro station — the «Oktyabrskaya» metro station. But when the view from the window of «this house» is shown, you can see the Chistye Prudy area and the «Sovremennik» theatre (completely different districts of Moscow).
