About the film

More Daddies. More Problems.

What it’s about

Brad and Dusty have settled into a workable co-parenting arrangement for the sake of the children. Their plan for a perfect Christmas is upended when Dusty's macho, old-school father Kurt and Brad's gentle, emotional father Don arrive. The four men decide to take the kids to a luxury resort, where the holiday descends into chaos.

What hooks you

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg return as Brad and Dusty, joined by Mel Gibson as Kurt and John Lithgow as Don. The film won a Golden Raspberry for Gibson's supporting performance. One scene has Wahlberg throwing snowballs to music from 'The Departed', for which he earned an Oscar nomination.

Who it’s for

It is worth a look for anyone who enjoys holiday comedies that turn family gatherings into awkward, competitive showdowns, and for those who like broad humour built on clashing personalities and festive mayhem.

Trivia

  1. At one point, Chevy Chase and Robert De Niro were planned to be invited for the roles of the fathers.
  2. Mel Gibson's character says the line: «Tell everyone that Christmas has arrived». As a child, Mark Wahlberg was very fond of the carol with this title. Moreover, this line is a reference to the youth pop group New Kids on the Block, which also performed this carol. Donnie Wahlberg, Mark Wahlberg's brother, played in this group.
  3. Mark Wahlberg throws snowballs to the music from Martin Scorsese's dramatic thriller «The Departed» (2006). For his performance in this film, Mark Wahlberg was nominated for the «Oscar» in the «Best Supporting Actor» category.
