She came for the pasta and got lost in the sauce.
What it’s about
Anna loses her live-in nanny job and, on a whim, heads to Tuscany to chase an old dream. With every hotel room booked, she settles into a vacant villa owned by Matteo. When Matteo's mother arrives and assumes Anna is her son's fiancée, Anna plays along. The ruse holds until Matteo's brother Michael flies in, and Anna's growing closeness with him makes the truth harder to hide.
What hooks you
Kat Coiro directs Halle Bailey as Anna and Regé-Jean Page as Michael. The film was originally to be called "Italianna," a play on the heroine's name. The cast also includes Lorenzo de Moor as Matteo, whose villa Anna occupies.
Who it’s for
It is a good pick for those who like sunlit romantic comedies where a small lie snowballs into emotional complications. It will appeal to viewers who enjoy stories of reinvention in scenic settings, with a touch of family misunderstanding and a love triangle that builds slowly.
