About the film
All grit. No quit.
What it’s about
In Afghanistan, a U.S. Army combat engineer survives a Taliban artillery strike that wounds his leg and kills his younger brother. Two years later, he arrives at a Ranger training camp in Colorado, determined to pass the grueling selection and fulfill his brother's dream. Assigned as squad leader for the final exercise, he and the other candidates, armed with blank-firing weapons, are suddenly confronted by a massive combat robot of unknown origin that attacks them.
What hooks you
Patrick Hughes, director of 'The Expendables 3', brings his action expertise to this blend of military training and alien invasion. Alan Ritchson, who performed many of his own stunts including underwater sequences where he held his breath for two minutes, stars as the engineer. Former U.S. Army Rangers served as military consultants, designing the physical exercises shown in the film. The candidates' numbered designations reflect real Ranger Assessment and Selection Program practices.
Who it’s for
It is a good pick for those who like military sci-fi with intense firefights, survival against overwhelming odds, and a gritty, dark atmosphere where training meets an otherworldly threat.

All 10Trivia
- Alan Ritchson, who plays the main character, performed many of the stunts for his role himself. This also applies to the underwater filming, when the actor had to hold his breath for two minutes.
- Former U.S. Army Rangers served as military consultants on the film. They also devised the physical exercises shown in the film, which resemble elements of Ranger training.
- Candidates for the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program do indeed wear numbers (the better a candidate performed on the physical fitness test, the lower their number).
