Alan Ritchson, who plays the main character, performed many of the stunts for his role himself. This also applies to the underwater filming, when the actor had to hold his breath for two minutes.

Former U.S. Army Rangers served as military consultants on the film. They also devised the physical exercises shown in the film, which resemble elements of Ranger training.

Candidates for the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program do indeed wear numbers (the better a candidate performed on the physical fitness test, the lower their number).
