What it’s about

Roman Mukhin works for a large metallurgical company that sponsors an orphanage in Khanty-Mansiysk. His employer suggests he take a child from that home into his care. His wife Elena agrees, believing another child will strengthen their marriage, since they already have an older son, Oleg. They choose Marta Chemesova, an 11-year-old who does not want to leave her grandmother behind. The grandmother loves Marta but feels she can no longer look after her, so she consents to the guardianship. Marta moves to Moscow, and at first everyone is optimistic. Yet becoming a real family proves harder than Elena and Roman expected, even after they arrange a trip to India, the country Marta has always dreamed of visiting.
