Stories from the set

Before filming began, director and screenwriter Kristoffer Borgli arranged for the film's creative team to watch Paul Mazursky's comedy-drama "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" (1969) and Lars von Trier's sci-fi drama "Melancholia" (2011). He also asked Robert Pattinson and Zendaya (who played Charlie and Emma, respectively) to watch the drama "The Passion of Anna" (Ingmar Bergman, 1969), whose poster hung on their characters' living room wall.
