Adam Arkin (born August 19, 1956) is an American actor and director. His father is Oscar-winning actor Alan Arkin, and his brother is actor Matthew Arkin. Adam Arkin is known for the role of Aaron Shutt in the series Chicago Hope. He has been nominated for numerous awards, including a Tony (Best Actor, 1991, I Hate Hamlet), as well as three Primetime Emmy Awards, four Screen Actors Guild Awards (ensemble, Chicago Hope), and a Directors Guild of America Award (My Louisiana Sky). Beginning in 1990, he appeared periodically as the malicious and paranoid Adam in the series Northern Exposure, for which he received an Emmy nomination.

In 2002, Arkin received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Children's Program for My Louisiana Sky. From 2007 to 2009, he appeared in the drama series Life. In 2009, he played the villain Ethan Zobelle, leader of a white separatist gang, in the series Sons of Anarchy, as well as Principal Ed Gibb in the series 8 Simple Rules (2003–2005).
