Swedish actor, film director and screenwriter. Winner of the Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics' Choice Movie Awards and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Big Little Lies. He is best known for the films: Straw Dogs (2011), Melancholia (2011), The Divorce in the Big City (2012), No Connections (2012), The East (2013), The Diary of a Teenage Girl (2015), Tarzan. Legend (2016), War Against All (2016). As well as for roles in the series: Generation Kill (2008), True Blood (2008–2014) and Big Little Lies (2017).

Alexander Skarsgård was born on August 25, 1976 in Stockholm (Sweden). His mother is My Guenther, a doctor, and his father is the famous Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård. Alexander Skarsgård has four brothers — Gustaf (1980), Bill (1990), who are also actors, Sam (1982), Walter (1995), a sister Eija (1992), and two half-brothers — Ossian (2009) and Kolbein (2012).

Alexander began acting at an early age, from the age of 8. His first work was the film Åke and His World. In 1989 he realized that such a famous life was not for him. At such a young age he was not enticed by the attention of paparazzi and passersby on the street. Therefore he wanted to study architecture in Stockholm. At that moment he interrupted his acting work.

Years later, Skarsgård enrolled in college in political science. At the age of 19 he went to do compulsory military service (Swedish: lumpen) in the Swedish Navy, where for 15 months he served in an anti-terrorist and anti-sabotage unit at the Berga naval base (Swedish: Berga örlogsskolor) in the Stockholm archipelago.
