Ali Abbasi (Persian: علی عباسی, born in 1981 in Tehran) is an Iranian-Danish film director. Until 2002, he studied at Tehran Polytechnic, after which he emigrated to Europe to study architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2007, he entered the National Film School of Denmark, where in 2011 he received a diploma for the short film "M for Markus." He lives in Copenhagen but still holds an Iranian passport.
