Biography

Carrie Fisher was born in Beverly Hills, California, to singer Eddie Fisher (son of Jewish emigrants from Russia) and actress Debbie Reynolds (1932-2016). Her younger brother is Todd Fisher. Her two half-sisters, Joely Fisher and Tricia Leigh Fisher, are also actresses. When little Carrie was 2 years old, her parents divorced, and her father married actress Elizabeth Taylor. The following year, her mother married shoe store chain owner Harry Karl. Of course, Carrie wanted to follow in her parents' footsteps.

From the age of 12, she often appeared in Las Vegas with her mother Debbie. Carrie enrolled in a school in Beverly Hills, but soon left it to realize her childhood dream of becoming an actress. Her debut took place in 1973 in the musical "Irene", a revived Broadway hit, together with her mother. Carrie Fisher has a daughter, Billie Lourd, born to Bryan Lourd. The couple did not formalize their relationship officially, and after some time they separated.

On December 23, 2016, Fisher suffered cardiac arrest during a flight from London to Los Angeles. A passenger sitting nearby later reported that the actress had stopped breathing. He performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on her until medics arrived. In Los Angeles, Fisher was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where she was placed on a ventilator. The actress died four days later, on December 27, at 8:55 a.m. local time at the age of 60. Her mother, Debbie Reynolds, died of a stroke the next day, December 28, while organizing her daughter's funeral.
