Christina Ricci (born February 12, 1980, Santa Monica, California, USA) is an American actress and producer. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award (1999) and an Emmy Award (2006). Christina Ricci was born on February 12, 1980, in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Monica. Christina was the youngest of four children (the others are named Rafael, Pia, and Dante) in the family of lawyer Ralph Ricci and realtor Sarah Murdoch. Before going into legal practice, her father worked as a psychoanalyst from home: Christina could often hear his sessions coming from the next room and sometimes parodied the overheard dialogues for her mother. The family soon moved to New Jersey. Her parents divorced when she was 13 years old.

Christina never studied acting. She currently owns her own film production company. She was also the face of the fashion house Louis Vuitton (along with Uma Thurman). Christina Ricci made her big-screen debut at the age of 9 in the film Mermaids, where she appeared alongside Cher, Bob Hoskins, and Winona Ryder. The film was very popular, and Christina was invited to play Wednesday Addams in the comedy The Addams Family (1991). This role made Ricci one of the most popular teenage actresses. Two years later, Christina appeared in the sequel to that commercially successful film, Addams Family Values (1993).

Christina Ricci's first adult acting role was in Ang Lee's film The Ice Storm: she played a girl coming of age who confidently seduces two neighboring brothers. After this role, Ricci appeared in a number of films dealing with the problems of growing up, sexuality, and self-identity. Among the actress's most notable works are her biographical role as the writer Elizabeth Wurtzel in the film Prozac Nation, the role of the manipulative and cynical Dedee in the comedy The Opposite of Sex, and her work in Tim Burton's supernatural film Sleepy Hollow. In the latter, she appeared alongside Johnny Depp, who became a close friend in her life as well as a partner in two more films — Terry Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Sally Potter's The Man Who Cried. One of Christina's most recent notable works was the role of the lover of Charlize Theron's character in the widely discussed film Monster.

In 2007, the comedy Penelope was released, in which Ricci appeared alongside James McAvoy and Reese Witherspoon, as well as the psychological drama Black Snake Moan with Samuel L. Jackson. In addition, Ricci took part in a project called The White Rose, playing the legendary German anti-war activist Sophie Scholl, who was executed by the Nazis for subversive activities during World War II.
