Biography
Cybill Lynn Shepherd is an American actress, singer, and former model. She is a three-time Golden Globe Award winner and a four-time Emmy Award nominee. She is best known for her roles in the films The Last Picture Show (1971), Heartbreak Kid (1972), and Taxi Driver (1976), as well as the television series Moonlighting (1985-1989), Cybill (1995-1998), The L Word (2007-2009), and Psych (2008-2013). Shepherd became an actress by chance. In 1970, Peter Bogdanovich, then a young director, was casting actors for his upcoming film The Last Picture Show. One day, while passing a newsstand, he noticed an attractive girl's face on the cover of a glamour magazine - and immediately decided that this girl was perfect for him.
The Last Picture Show turned out to be a great success for the director, was a hit with both audiences and critics, and won many prestigious awards. For her role as Jacy Farrow, the popular school beauty who breaks hearts, Cybill Shepherd was nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of Most Promising Newcomer. The young actress's next performance was also quite successful - in director Elaine May's film The Heartbreak Kid (1972), where she appeared alongside the famous actor Charles Grodin.
