Deborah Lynn Tucker was born in Evanston, Illinois, and raised in the Chicago area. She competed nationally and internationally as a figure skater and won a bronze medal in the women's event at the 1985 World University Games, after which she graduated from Boston University with a bachelor's degree in broadcast and film.

Deciding to move her love of performing from the ice to the stage and screen, she studied at the Actors Institute in London and the Oxford School of Drama, and then performed at the Edinburgh Festival. Six months after arriving in Hollywood, she landed a series regular role on the sitcom "Living Dolls," followed by a recurring role on "Dallas," successfully working back-to-back in both comedy and drama.

After several more years working in roles as teenagers and characters just over twenty, it was time to grow up off screen as well. In 1996 she married Ron Markezich, and they moved to Seattle to start a family life. They have four children, born in less than 3.5 years, including twins. When the children started school, the "acting itch" made itself felt again, and Deborah returned to work, landing a lead role in a corporate film series (2008–2013), as well as appearing in several short films in the area. She continues to work in film, moving between the Pacific Northwest, Los Angeles, Vancouver (British Columbia), Texas, and, as she hopes, soon the Southeastern U.S. market as well, since her oldest child is leaving to attend college across the country, and she would like to combine work with visits to mom!
