Mickey Rourke — Philip Andre Rourke Jr.; born September 16, 1952, in Schenectady, New York, USA — American actor and screenwriter, professional boxer. Winner of the Golden Globe and BAFTA awards (2009). Oscar nominee (2009).

Mickey Rourke's acting career began back in 1979, but his first major role came only in 1983, when the already famous film director Francis Ford Coppola offered the actor the role of the Motorcycle Boy in the film "Rumble Fish." True worldwide recognition came to the actor with the release of the film "9½ Weeks," thanks to which Rourke acquired the title of sex symbol and firmly took his place among the world's movie stars. After worldwide recognition, Rourke played one of his most famous roles — private detective Harry Angel in Alan Parker's detective thriller "Angel Heart."

The pinnacle of Rourke's acting skill was recognized by the overwhelming majority of world film critics to be the role of wrestler Randy "The Ram" Robinson in director D. Aronofsky's drama "The Wrestler." A devoted adherent of the Stanislavski system, the actor completely transformed into Randy; this role became "the resurrection of Mickey Rourke as an actor" and his first truly major role since 1991. For this work the actor received many prestigious film awards.
