Rufus (real name Jacques Narcy) is a French comedian and actor. A César Award nominee. He was born in the commune of Riom (Puy-de-Dôme department). In the post-war period, his parents worked to help and rehabilitate orphaned children and troubled teenagers. Young Jacques loved performing comic routines for friends and classmates, but he nevertheless chose a more down-to-earth profession and enrolled in medical school. Three years later, after an unhappy love affair, he decided to leave the school and radically change his life. Thus he not only changed professions, becoming a theater director, but also changed his name: Jacques Narcy became Rufus (the name of a character in René Goscinny's book "Little Nicholas").

Rufus made his film debut in 1967. Fame came to him after appearing in René Allio's "The Camisards" (1972), Claude Lelouch's "Marriage" (1974), and Maurice Dugowson's "Lily, Love Me" (1975). In the 1980s he paid more attention to his theater career. His role in the film "Amélie" brought the actor a César nomination for Best Supporting Actor. In 2004 he took part in the large-scale theater project "Rufus the Dreamer."
