From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Ry Russo-Young (born November 16, 1981) is an American independent filmmaker. Her film "You Won't Miss Me" was shown at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and received the Gotham Award for Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You. Her first feature film "Orphans" received a Special Jury Prize at the 2007 South by Southwest festival. Her short film "Marion" received several awards, including the Silver Hugo for Best Experimental Short Film at the Chicago Underground Film Festival. She also appeared in Joe Swanberg's film "Hannah Takes the Stairs."

She studied at Oberlin College and St. Anne's School.
