Trivia

  1. When screenwriters Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they managed to get Harrison Ford into the project, Segel said that Goldstein had wanted from the start to find "someone like Harrison Ford" for the role and was accordingly planning to hold screen tests for such actors. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least try to attract Ford himself, who would of course almost certainly refuse, but at least word would get out about his screen test, and who knows, maybe other actors would come on board too. In the end Goldstein talked to Ford, and he agreed to the role. Goldstein says he has no idea what exactly prompted Ford to agree.
  2. The character played by Harrison Ford is based on the real psychiatrist Phil Stutz, the subject of Jonah Hill's 2022 documentary of the same name.
  3. When creating the office interiors, the series' production designer Cabot McMullen worked closely with the actors involved in the series, creating "individual" interiors for each character. Many of the interior items were chosen by the actors themselves.
