Sebastian Brameshuber (born 1981) studied stage design and film art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and film at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains in France. His films are based on documentary practice and explore the tense relationship between historical and personal reality through a spare cinematic language. They have been shown and received awards at festivals such as Berlinale, Viennale, Cinéma du Réel, Art of the Real, FIDMarseille, IDFA and BFI London, among others.

In 2019, Filmarchiv Austria and Anthology Film Archives held the first retrospectives of his work. He was awarded the Grand Prix at Cinéma du Réel for the film "Movements of a Nearby Mountain" in 2019 and for the film "London" in 2026.
