In 1940, Chilean boxer Arturo Godoy arrives in New York with no money or connections, only his fists, his will, and a once-in-a-lifetime chance: a shot at the heavyweight title. Beside him is Leda Urbinati, an Argentine dancer and his sole support. Their pursuit of success leads them to Gabriel Meredith, a charismatic con man who promises a fast track into big-time boxing and money. As Arturo endures grueling training and brutal underground fights, Leda strives to conquer the stage. But Meredith begins secretly courting Leda, and Arturo faces not only the cold reception of a foreign city but also jealousy and psychological pressure, all while preparing to face the legendary champion Joe Louis.
