Biography
American film director and screenwriter. Three-time Academy Award nominee for the films "The Thin Red Line" and "The Tree of Life," and winner of the Palme d'Or for the film "The Tree of Life." The director was born into the family of an oil company manager.
He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in philosophy, then studied at Oxford, at Magdalen College, but left without defending his dissertation.
In 1969, Malick was accepted into courses at the research center of the American Film Institute.
