According to CW president Brad Schwartz, the creators of the project wanted to secure the services of at least someone from the cast of the original "Librarians" — even in a cameo role — and Christian Kane expressed a desire to play Jacob Stone again.
Even before the premiere screening, it was announced that the project would move from the CW platform to TNT, and the premiere was postponed from the end of 2024 to 2025.
