Poltergeist: The Legacy

What it’s about

For more than three millennia, a secret society known as the Legacy has pursued knowledge of the paranormal and defended people against malevolent forces. Its branches, called Houses, exist in various countries, each governed by a Precept who wears a ring signifying their position. The San Francisco House, led by Derek Rayne, Ph.D., is based in a castle on Angel Island, accessible only by ferry or helicopter. Rayne owns the castle and also chairs the Luna Foundation, a philanthropic organization founded by his father, Winston Rayne. The Foundation's activities include searching for and studying ancient art objects and manuscripts. Other members of the San Francisco House and the Foundation include Rachel Corrigan, MD, Alexandra Moreau, and Nick Boyle.

What hooks you

The series received a Saturn Award nomination for Best Genre Cable Television Series in 1997. The castle that serves as the San Francisco House is a real location in British Columbia, later used as Professor Xavier's school for mutants in the X-Men franchise.
