About the series
Never meet your heroes.
What it’s about
In a world where superheroes are celebrities managed by a powerful corporation, their public image hides corruption, violence, and abuse. A small group of ordinary people, informally known as "The Boys", takes it upon themselves to expose and punish these heroes. Their methods are as brutal as the heroes they hunt, and the conflict quickly becomes personal.
What hooks you
The series has won two Saturn Awards, including Best Superhero Television Series in 2021. Karl Urban plays Billy Butcher, the ruthless leader of the vigilantes, while Antony Starr portrays Homelander, the seemingly perfect but deeply twisted top hero. Based on the comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, it offers a sharp satire of celebrity culture and corporate power.
Who it’s for
It will appeal to those who enjoy superhero stories with a cynical edge, where the heroes are the villains and the underdogs fight dirty. It will also suit viewers who like dark humour, graphic violence, and social commentary.

Trivia
All facts 10
- In the fourth episode of the second season, at the 65th minute, when the Patriot starts strangling his "double," the latter has an earring in his ear, then he doesn't.
- The series is based on the comic book series of the same name by writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson, published from 2006 to 2012.
- The appearance of Hughie Campbell in the comic was based on actor Simon Pegg from the time of the series Spaced and the film Shaun of the Dead. When Simon found out about this, he contacted artist Darick Robertson and thanked him for "immortalizing him as a comic book character," and later wrote an introduction for the collected edition of the first volume. Simon was offered the role of Hughie in the series, but he declined, eventually playing the role of Hughie's father.
- The character known as Translucent is new, created specifically for the series. In the graphic novel, the last member of The Seven was a certain Jack from Jupiter.
- The designer of the heroine Starlight's new costume is based on the character of clothing designer Edna from the Incredibles franchise.
- Homelander visits Jonah Vogelbaum at an estate called "Parkwood Estate." It is located in Canada, in the province of Ontario. This same estate was also used as a filming location in Tamra Davis's comedy "Billy Madison" (1995), starring Adam Sandler in the lead role.
