The series' creators persuaded the US administration and the UK government to allow them to film not on sets but on location, including the new US embassy building and the office of the UK Foreign Secretary, and such permits are granted extremely rarely, especially for an American project. Only permission to film at the US ambassador's residence in London could not be obtained, so they had to film at the country residence.
