Michael Nyqvist was initially cast as Chekhov (this character was later renamed Aldrich). The actor, however, turned out to be busy with other projects, and the role went to Ulrich Thomsen. As for Nyqvist, he died in June 2017 at the age of 56, just as work on the series was underway.
