According to screenwriter Dave Filoni, one of the scenes required filming many stormtroopers, but there were not enough costumes for everyone. Members of the international fan club "501st Legion" had to be used with their own costumes.

The Mandalorian's weapon is a slightly modified Bergmann No. 1 pistol from 1894. Some other famous weapons from the Star Wars franchise films also have real-life prototypes.

The series is set 6 years before Rey's birth.
