About the series

What it’s about

Schoolboys from New Zealand get a chance to sail when one of them is related to a ship captain. Two pirates, Forbes and Pike, sign on as crew, planning to seize the vessel and search for treasure on a remote island. After a mutiny, the boys are taken hostage, but with help from O'Brien they retake the boat and flee. A storm wrecks them on an island, where they must learn to cooperate despite internal rivalries. The pirates are still pursuing them, and the island may hold secrets of its own.

What hooks you

Sergiu Nicolaescu and Gilles Grangier direct this adaptation of a Jules Verne novel. Marc Di Napoli plays Doniphan and Constantin Baltaretu plays O'Brien. In Soviet cinemas, two separate films were cut from the series: 'Pirates of the Pacific' and 'Treasure on the Island'.

Who it’s for

It is a good pick for those who like seafaring adventures, young heroes facing danger, and tales of survival on a deserted island.
