What it’s about

In the Republic of Gilead, a totalitarian state on former US territory, the regime has grown even more closed and its laws harsher. Agnes MacKenzie, a student at an elite preparatory school run by Aunt Lydia for daughters of high-ranking officials, is assigned to help a new pupil, Daisy, who has arrived from Canada. Their growing friendship forces Agnes to see the cruelty and injustice of her society through an outsider's eyes.
