10 facts
  1. When Ted Lasso runs out of Rebecca's office, he hits his head on the doorframe. This moment was not in the script; Jason Sudeikis really hit his head hard.

  2. Jason Sudeikis first played a character named Ted Lasso in a series of NBC Sports commercials dedicated to the English Premier League.

  3. The character Roy Kent is based on the Irish footballer and coach Roy Maurice Keane, who played in the Premier League from 1992 to 2006 for Nottingham Forest and Manchester United. Like Roy Kent, his prototype was the team captain and was known for a hot-tempered and aggressive attitude both on and off the pitch.

  4. The first two episodes were directed by Zach Braff, who, at the time filming began, happened to be in the United Kingdom by pure coincidence.

  5. It was originally intended that Brett Goldstein, who plays Roy Kent, would be the screenwriter, but he liked the role so much that he auditioned, sent the tape to producer Bill Lawrence, and got the part after all.

  6. Jason Sudeikis, who plays the main character, later said that his situation was quite similar to that of his character, because when the project was greenlit, he was going through a breakup with Olivia Wilde (in the series, Ted divorces his wife), so he also went to the United Kingdom (where filming took place) to grieve and pull himself together.

  7. According to Hannah Waddingham, the biscuits that Ted brought to her character (she played Rebecca) every morning tasted "just disgusting." The props department admitted that they made the biscuits half-heartedly, since no one thought the actress would actually eat them. Waddingham joked that the look of feigned delight on her face at the sight of the biscuits was "the pinnacle of her acting career."

  8. During the 2020 coronavirus restrictions, Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, and several other actors became hooked on "FIFA Online." Even before the series aired, they had already formed their own football club and played in it as their series characters. That was how the writers learned that Billy Harris was thoroughly familiar with the work of Canadian rapper Drake, and they incorporated this detail into the plot of the second season.

  9. A significant portion of the scenes were filmed in Richmond Green, which covers only 4.8 hectares but looks considerably more spacious. The charity event was also filmed there.

  10. The series shows teenagers playing football in Richmond Green park. In reality, however, cricket is mostly played there.
