About the film
What it’s about
Broadcast on TNT since April 2005, Comedy Club gathers a rotating cast of resident comedians in Moscow. Garik Martirosyan, Timur Batrutdinov, Garik Kharlamov and Pavel Volya are among the regulars who step onto a small stage from the audience, chatting with the crowd as they go. They mock celebrities, ignore conventions and aim to rile up the room rather than deliver a rehearsed set. The show grew out of a KVN team called New Armenians, whose members included Artur Dzhanibekyan and Artashes Sarkisyan. A pilot was shot for STS in 2004, but the channel passed, and TNT picked it up the following year.
